From Puddles to Petals: A Floral Knits Roundup
We're nearly past the April showers and eagerly awaiting the May flowers! We've taken the old proverb to heart and gathered a fresh bouquet of patterns, kits, books, and a few extras across the shop, all featuring florals in some shape or form. Pour a cup of something warm, settle in, and have a wander through the garden.
From Corinne's Patch
Our founder Corinne grew up visiting her Grandad in Fortrose, a village on the Black Isle in the Highlands of Scotland where flowers tumble out of every garden. That memory is the seed of her Flowers of Fortrose family of designs.
Flowers of Fortrose Hat & Mittens Kit in J&S 2ply
This colorwork hat-and-mittens kit pairs Corinne's cheerful floral motifs with Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight, a fingering-weight 100% Shetland wool. The kit includes both digital patterns plus enough yarn in your selected colorway for the matching set. An adventurous-beginner project, especially if paired with the Intro to Colorwork Course featuring the Flowers of Fortrose Patterns.
Flowers of Fortrose Vest by Corinne Tomlinson in J&S 2ply
The natural sequel to the hat and mittens, the all-over Fortrose colorwork blooms across this fingering-weight vest. The kit comes with the digital pattern, your chosen colorway of J&S 2ply, a TWT tote, and a stitch marker. New to steeking or garment construction? Renee walks you through it step by step in the Intermediate Colorwork Course featuring Flowers of Fortrose Vest.
Garments in Full Bloom
Bliss by Une Cecilie in Hillesvåg Luna
Une Cecilie's bold and bright Bliss Sweater is a steeked, multi-color sweater knit in Hillesvåg Luna, a worsted-weight 2-ply spun from 100% Norwegian lambswool at a fourth-generation mill near Bergen. Luna brings loft, bounce, and crisp stitch definition that lets colorwork details bloom on the fabric. A friendly choice for knitters ready to take on a steeked project.
Flower Cardigan in Sandnes Garn Sisu
This sweet floral cardigan calls for Sandnes Garn Sisu, a fingering-weight 80% wool / 20% nylon blend that's superwash treated and built to handle real life. The Flower Cardigan pattern is a free download from Sandnes Garn, which makes this yarn set a friendly springboard into a cheerful colorwork garment.
Springerle Pullover by Amy Christoffers in Lichen & Lace Rustic Heather Sport
Amy Christoffers' Springerle Pullover takes its name from the German pressed cookies traditionally embossed with botanical motifs, and that delicate floral imprint translates into a top-down sweater with a textured allover stitch pattern. Knit in Lichen & Lace Rustic Heather Sport, a sport-weight 100% Canadian wool spun at the country's oldest woolen mill and hand-dyed in New Brunswick.
Yarrow by Melody Hoffman in Rauma Vams
Melody Hoffman's Yarrow centers on a pair of striking sleeves featuring the namesake flower in Estonian inlay, finished with French knot embroidery for a tactile, garden-pressed feel. The body stays simple in stockinette so the sleeves can take center stage. Knit in Rauma Vams, a worsted/aran weight 100% Norwegian wool that's lofty and squishy with a soft halo.
Thistle on the Moor Vest by Carolyn Holbrook in Lichen & Lace Rustic Heather Sport
Carolyn Holbrook's lace thistle motif spreads across this top-down, boxy-fit vest, with short-row shaping at the shoulders for a comfortable hang. Knit in Lichen & Lace Rustic Heather Sport (sport weight, 100% Canadian wool, hand-dyed). A leafy, layerable pick for the in-between months when you'd prefer to avoid sleeve island!
Blossoms from Top to Toe
Alpine Bloom Hat by Caitlin Hunter in Cautiva
Caitlin Hunter's vibrant floral hat is knit in Wooldreamers Cautiva, a sport-weight 100% Spanish wool that's part of WoolDreamers' work to revive the local fiber economy. Small repeats and short floats make this yarn set a friendly entry point for newer colorwork knitters or a fast palette cleanser between bigger projects.
Hellebore Socks by Jessica McDonald in Rambler
Tucked among the florals, a sock that starts with a neat flourish. The Hellebore Socks by Jessica McDonald open with colorwork, then settle into a smooth, steady knit. Worked in Rambler yarn, our blend of Dorset, Corriedale, and Romney, (specifically chosen for sock yarn!) gives your socks sturdy character with a soft bounce. The stitches sit clean and even, giving the finished pair a dependable, long-wearing feel.
Pressed Flowers Mittens by Amy Christoffers in Lichen & Lace Rustic Heather Sport
Amy Christoffers' popular mosaic floral motif crops up on a cozy pair of mittens that use just two contrasting colors. The squishy hand of Lichen & Lace Rustic Heather Sport makes for a soft, well-cushioned cuff, and lovingly hand dyed colors add subtle depth to your project.
Ghost Flowers Scarf by Amy Christoffers in Rambler
Carry the shadow of flowers all year long with the flexible Ghost Flowers design that can be knit as a scarf, shawl, kerchief, or bandana that you can knit any size, any gauge, with nearly any yarn. This yarn set pairs the design with Rambler, our exclusive fingering-weight wool carefully curated with a blend of superb woolly wools!

Wooden Postcards
A keepsake-quality wooden postcard featuring Scottish thistles, icons, and a Highland Cow. Send one to a fellow Thistler, tuck it into a project bag, or prop it up on the bookshelf next to your knitting library and imagine yourself in a place where the sheep roam freely and leave tufts of wool on the thistle tops.
The Woolly Thistle Merch Bundle
Our logo's thistle earns this bundle an honorary spot in the bouquet. The TWT Merch Bundle includes a TWT mug, a large color tote, a Euro Magnet, and a TWT cap. Get yours and start spotting fellow Thistlers in the wild!
The rain may be on the windows, but you can have flowers on your needles. May this little garden of patterns and yarns carry you cheerfully through the season. See you in the garden!
