Retrosaria Rosa Pomar creates yarns made exclusively with Portuguese wool, working with shepherds, breed associations, and small manufacturers to keep native sheep breeds part of everyday knitting. All of their yarns are minimally processed: non-superwash, not bleached, chave no silicone-based softeners, and may even contain traces of vegetable matter (hooray!) The Woolly Thistle stocks Retrosaria for socks, sweaters, shawls, and accessories that celebrate Portuguese wool traditions, where the sheep roam free and mulesing is not practiced.
