Real People. Real Yarn. Real Good Vibes.

We’re the humans behind the yarn wall—packing your orders, answering your questions, curating every skein with care (and maybe a little yarn envy).

Some of us are in the shop, others are out of state, but together we’re a tight-knit crew who love what we do and love helping you do what you love. So here we are—pets, projects, fun facts, and all.

Come meet the Thistlers. We’re wool people, just like you.

CEO & Chief Yarn Sniffer

Corinne Tomlinson

She / Her

Corinne is the founder and fearless leader of The Woolly Thistle—a passionate knitter, connector, and yarn enthusiast who spun her love of wool and her Scottish roots into a thriving, joyful community of makers.

Though she’s called the USA home for over 30 years—her heart remains in Scotland. Founding The Woolly Thistle has allowed her to keep that connection to Scotland and Europe alive, something she’s endlessly grateful for. She considers it a true privilege to work alongside a wonderful team of yarn-lovers and knitters who, along with TWT’s customers, create a vibrant and welcoming community.

Corinne’s obsession is knitting (naturally!) and other interests include art, reading, and travel. Her hobby wishlist includes finding more time for weaving, painting, and more gardening. She’s also a big fan of British comfort food—especially chip shop chips or a baked potato loaded with coleslaw, cheese, or baked beans.

One especially memorable knitting moment? Learning continental knitting on a flight to Ethiopia. The technique was new to her—and evidently to the rest of the plane, who took a great interest in her efforts! She’s been a continental knitter ever since.

If Corinne ever found herself on a desert island, she’d be perfectly content with Jamieson & Smith 2ply, Rauma Finullgarn, and The Woolly Thistle’s own Rambler yarn. She’d whittle some driftwood needles and be good to go!

Maggie Nichols - Product Development Manager

She / Her

Maggie is the creative force behind so many of the beautiful yarn sets, kits, and thoughtful offerings that show up on your screen and in your stash. With a deep love for all things fiber, she brings a maker’s eye to everything she touches—knitting, spinning, crocheting, and even a bit of weaving on her trusty rigid heddle loom.

She’s a proud wife and mom of three amazing kids—two girls and a boy—and caretaker to two wonderfully silly cats who keep things lively at home. When she’s not crafting, Maggie’s often curled up with a good book, walking, doing yoga, or spending time with her church community, especially in book groups and Bible study.

Her comfort food? Potatoes, any and every way. Baked, fried, mashed—she’s here for it.

One of Maggie’s longest-standing knitting loves? Toys. What started as a sweet way to make things for her little ones grew into a true creative joy. Two decades later, she’s still making them—with the same sparkle in her eye and stitch-by-stitch care. She’s given many away, but the ones she’s kept are tucked around her home like tiny woolly friends.

Check out the photo for a few of Maggie’s toy creations—proof that even after all these years, making them never gets old.

Inventory Coordinator

Seth Filiault

He / Him / That Seth

Seth keeps the yarn flowing behind the scenes—literally. As our Inventory Coordinator, he’s the guy making sure your favorite skeins are stocked, sorted, and ready to ship out with love.

When he’s not wrangling inventory, Seth’s busy being Super Dad to two awesome daughters (plus two dogs and a cat). His off-hours are packed with softball games, outdoor adventures, and serious foodie moments—especially if there’s Indian food, sushi, or a steaming bowl of potato soup involved.

Unforgettable moment? Kayaking through the jungles of Hawaii to a hidden waterfall, then swimming under it like a real-life action movie. Fun fact: He’s related to Benjamin Franklin—yep, that Benjamin Franklin.

Ask him about: WYS Signature 4 Ply. Seth’s a fan of the squish and the colors.

Marketing Coordinator

Seth Brundage

He / Him / Other Seth

Seth’s the word guy behind a lot of what you read at TWT—from emails and product pages to cheeky captions and yarny updates. Originally from Connecticut, he now lives in Lebanon, NH with his girlfriend Ashlyn and their very sweet (and very needy) pitbull, Pepper—short for Pepperoni, obviously.

When he’s not crafting copy or thinking in headlines, Seth is all about baseball. He watches it, reads about it, writes about it—and yes, he's a Marlins fan through thick and thin.

His comfort food of choice? French onion soup. Preferably with extra cheese and a side of quiet time.

One of his wildest adventures was taking a totally unplanned, three-month road trip across the country in a bright orange van. (It was exactly as chaotic and memorable as it sounds.)

Fun fact: Before joining The Woolly Thistle, Seth ghostwrote a #1 Amazon bestseller—for Children’s Sports Biographies and Modern History, no less. Bet you didn’t see that one coming.

While his knitting résumé currently includes just one proudly scrappy swatch, he’s fully smitten with Daughter of a Shepherd’s Drover yarn—for its rich natural shades and that telltale “sheepy” smell that means it’s the real deal.

Fulfillment Supervisor

MaryBeth Dutile

She / Her

MaryBeth keeps things moving in the shop—making sure every order is picked, packed, and sent with care. Born and raised in New Hampshire, she brings a steady hand and warm heart to the daily whirlwind of wool.

She shares her home with two rescue pups: Avery, a sweet beagle from Vermont, and Bailey, a mixed breed rescued from Puerto Rico. (Yes, they’re both extremely good dogs.)

When she’s not keeping the fulfillment floor humming, MaryBeth is out soaking up life—whether she’s paddle boarding, hiking, traveling somewhere sunny, snapping photos, or singing along at a concert. She also loves spending time with her family and friends—and curling up with a good book.

A standout memory? Snorkeling with sea turtles in Barbados. (Yes, it was as magical as it sounds.)

She doesn’t have a middle name—but she is currently adding “knitter” to her list of accomplishments. As she steps into the woolly world, she’s already smitten with the beautiful colors in the Jamieson & Smith and Rauma Finullgarn lines.

Customer Service Lead

Jill Schroeder

She / Her

Jill is the friendly voice behind your emails—the calm, kind presence who helps Thistlers get answers, yarn recs, and the occasional tech rescue (with bonus cheer). She keeps the customer experience running smoothly and lovingly, just like the yarn she knits with.

Jill shares her life with one excellent husband (he knits too!), two grown kids (one of whom works here at TWT!), two delightful Frenchies, and a small but mighty cat. Her off-duty joys? Building with Lego, hunting for pressed pennies, and baking up the most legendary Texas sheet cake.

Jill’s no stranger to adventure—she and her family spent four years living in Switzerland, surrounded by mountains, chocolate, and inspiration. And here's something you might not guess: one of her eyes is half blue and half brown. Yep, she's a unicorn.

Favorite project? The Felix Cardigan. She’s made it twice, has yarn for a third, and honestly, we kind of hope she never stops.

Renee Allen - Email Specialist

She / Her

Renee helps keep Thistlers connected—writing emails, sharing updates, and creating posts that reflect everything happening at TWT. She’s been wool-obsessed for years, so getting to combine her love of fiber with her work just makes sense.

She and her husband have been married for 26 years and live a full, happy life surrounded by their three grown kids and seven grandchildren who keep things delightfully busy.

Outside of work, Renee finds joy in the simple things: walking, biking, traveling—and knitting as often as possible. Over the years she’s made sweaters, toys, socks, blankets, hats, and countless gifts. Each project holds a memory—where she was, who it was for, what she learned.

One unforgettable experience? In her words: "Shetland Wool Week. There was wool, of course—but also sheep, sheepdogs, cliffs, sweaters, and a ferry ride I won’t soon forget. I met up with friends, made new ones, and stood in places that hold centuries of knitting history. Everywhere I turned, there was something to learn, admire, or laugh about. The culture, the people, the landscape—it all deepened my love for the craft in a way I didn’t expect, but won’t ever forget.

And just for fun: Renee and her husband were named Anglers of the Year by the National Crappie League. He reels them in—she’s on net duty. Teamwork at its finest.

As for comfort food? She doesn’t play favorites, but Skyline Chili Cheese Coneys and Peanut Butter Chip Ice Cream from UDF are hard to beat.

Picker / Packer

Ruth Ticknor

Ruth is part of the awesome Fulfillment team here at TWT, carefully picking and packing your orders with the same attention she gives her own yarn stash—which is saying something.

Ruth works alongside her husband, Ed, and when they’re not surrounded by wool at the shop, they’re surrounded by wool at home—on their small sheep farm in Vermont.

Along with their dog Cooper and cat Doora, they care for a flock that provides Ruth with homegrown fiber for spinning on her spindle, wheel, and e-spinner. (Yes, she does it all.)
Ruth crochets and knits in equal measure, and she’ll never pick a favorite—both bring her joy in different ways. She shares her fiber life (and farm shenanigans) on her YouTube show, Counting Sheep Podcast, where she talks spinning, stitching, and what it’s really like living with sheep.

She and Ed love to travel, and last summer they crossed a big one off the bucket list: visiting the Shetland Islands. The photo she shared was snapped at epic stop— Ruth enjoyed a bit of knitting at the Shetland Textile Museium in Lerwick!

Picker / Packer

Ed Ticknor

He / Him

Ed is a member of our Fulfillment team packing orders with care and solid attention to every detail. He is a big part of packing our special products (Hello, Spring Taster Box) and brings a consistent and systematic approach to our team.

Ed and his wife, Ruth, love to travel and have been to many "woolly places" including Ireland, The UK, Iceland, Norway, and of course, Shetland!

Ed and Ruth are shown here with their sweet ewe, Sierra. When Ed is not maintaining the farm, he enjoys the outdoors, and creating beautiful works of art in his wood shop.

Picker / Packer

Lynn Uhl

She / Her

Lynn brings warmth, care, and a keen eye to every package she prepares at The Woolly Thistle. As a picker/packer, she’s often the last person to touch your order before it heads your way—and she does it with the same excitement she feels about all the woolly goodness around her.

She and her husband are new to New Hampshire and are loving the chance to be closer to their kids. After years of living and traveling in many different places, Lynn is embracing the beauty and charm of the Granite State—and feels incredibly lucky to have found such a welcoming and creative team at TWT.

Outside of work, Lynn is usually on the move or making something with her hands. Knitting, sewing, gardening, hiking, and running all bring her joy. She’s a firm believer in savoring the outdoors and keeping life full of little adventures.

Her favorite yarn? It started with Biches & Bûches, but after getting to try so many others at TWT, she can’t choose—she truly loves them all.

Comfort food? Anything someone else makes. Even a PB&J tastes better when it’s made for her.

And here’s a fun surprise: Lynn once played rugby! She may say she’s “pretty boring,” but we think that’s a story worth telling.

E-Commerce Coordinator

Tina Darak

She / Her

Tina helps keep The Woolly Thistle’s online world running smoothly—from yarn drops, photos, and product pages to all the little behind-the-scenes magic that makes shopping with us feel easy and thoughtful.

She lives with her husband, three busy kids, a flock of beloved hens, and one rascally rooster on a small homestead where something is always growing. Whether it’s flowers, vegetables, or her kids, Tina finds joy in nurturing what matters—and loves feeding her family with food they’ve grown themselves.

Favorite food? Potatoes. Baked, mashed, roasted, or fried—there’s a potato for every mood, and she’s here for them all.

Tina picked up knitting five years ago and never looked back. Once she got through the early basics, she fell in love with the rhythm of it—the way knitting settles her thoughts and grounds her body. One of her favorite finished objects is the Ursa Major sweater by Elyse D’Amours Designs, knit in Scottish Yarn Festival DK. The soft squish, rich colors, and growing cable details down the sleeve made it one to remember.

Another unforgettable moment? Attending the New York Sheep & Wool Festival at Rhinebeck. She knew the knitters were out there—but seeing that many passionate (and wildly friendly) makers in one place was pure awe.

Shop Assistant

Venn Schroeder

They / Them

Venn is a Shop Assistant at TWT—doing a little bit of everything to help keep things running smoothly.

They live with their cat, Dori, who insists on a proper audience for breakfast and will meow nonstop until Venn shows up to watch her eat.

Outside of work, Venn is very into Magic the Gathering. Like, very. They also play drums—but mostly, it’s Magic the Gathering. And then more Magic the Gathering.

Their go-to comfort food? Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. (Yes, they’re as good as they sound.)

A fun life experience: Venn spent their high school years living in Switzerland, which definitely beats a typical school commute.
Unique fact? Venn once entered their county fair exactly three times—and won Grand Champion all three times: once for youth baking, and twice for youth fine art. They never entered again. Three for three. Retired undefeated.

Their favorite yarn? Making Tracks in Hydrangea—a colorway they're especially drawn to for its soft beauty and vibrant tone.

Order Processor

Alyssa Shatford

She / Her

Alyssa is the behind-the-scenes powerhouse making sure your order is prepped, labeled, and ready to roll. She joined The Woolly Thistle at the very end of 2024 (fine, technically 12/30)—and she’s been loving the work, the schedule, the people, and the vibe ever since.

She lives in West Lebanon with her husband, two grown kids, one lovable dog, and two cats who definitely run the show. Outside of knitting, Alyssa’s into mystery books and shows, music, art, and... roller derby. Yep—she played competitively for 10 years and now referees, whistle and all. Even better? Her 20-year-old now joins her at practice. Sharing derby is one of her greatest joys.

She’s also battling a very serious case of cheese deficiency—and does her best to treat it daily.

When it comes to knitting, Alyssa thought she had it down... until she met Corinne and the gang. That’s when she realized: she’s a craft knitter—and proudly so. Now she’s leveling up, with dreams of making her first sweater just for herself.
