Details & Finished Object Form!!
Details: Knit any adult-sized sweater using any yarn you choose! (Sweater should be at least 80% yarn purchased at TWT.) This is a virtual knit-along that takes place mainly in our Facebook and Ravelry groups, with Zoom meet-ups at the start, middle, and end of the knit-along.
Dates: Cast On August 21st - October 9th
Prizes: Yes, there will be prizes!! See the FAQ section below for the prize list. Be sure to submit a Finished Object Form once your project is completed. (Form coming soon.)

Our Sweater KAL invites you to knit any sweater made from yarn purchased at The Woolly Thistle, but in honor of our 10th Anniversary, we've put together a special side quest for our beloved Vanilla Sweater Collection!
Whether you're casting on your very first Vanilla Sweater, trying the airy Vanilla Fluff, or cozying up with Vanilla's Big Sister, you'll be eligible for special prizes celebrating firsts, creative modifications, embroidery, and more. Read more in the FAQs below!

Swatch School
When you sign up for the 2026 Sweater KAL, you'll have the option to join Swatch School with us! Swatch School is a mini-course with beginner-friendly lessons and more advanced knitting tips and tricks delivered right to your inbox weekly.
Swatching is an important part of knitting to ensure that you have a finished garment that fits and feels they way you want! Some of the topics covered in Swatch School include:
- What is Gauge, Why Does It Matter?
- Swatching Flat, In-the-Round, & Multi-size Swatches
- How to substitute yarns and adjusting for gauge
- How to modify your sweater for better fit
- Colorwork planning and palette building

It's free! Use the purple section of this page to enter your email and name! Click "Sign Me Up" and you're officially in! You'll receive an email confirming you're entry.

Knit or crochet any adult sized sweater (or all-over colorwork vest) using 80% yarn purchased at TWT at any point.
"Sweater" typically qualifies as a 3/4 length or full sleeved adult-sized garment. Use your best judgment about project size and difficulty to decide if your pattern qualifies to be prize-eligible.

In honor of our 10th Anniversary, we are shining a special light on the sweaters in our Vanilla Collection. If you choose to knit a Vanilla Sweater, Vanilla Fluff, or Vanilla's Big Sister, there are special prize categories for those projects!

This is a virtual KAL with many opportunities to engage with our lovely community. There is active chatter in our FaceBook Group and Ravelry Group.
You'll receive Sweater KAL focused emails and special invitations to our Zoom Knit Nights to share progress and get inspired!
This KAL is for community building and fun. Even if you don't think you'll finish, join us for the positive support and motivation of knitting with other Thistlers. In order to be prize eligible, sweaters must be started and finished (at least 80%) within the KAL dates.

To enter to win a prize, please submit a Finished Object Form once your project is completed.
You'll need to share your name, yarn choice, pattern choice, and either a link to your project on the web or your FB or Rav username so we can find where you've shared a photo of your FO.
We invite you to share progress and FOs on Facebook and Ravelry so we can all celebrate your makes! Our goal with the FO Form is to make prize drawing as straightforward and fair as possible, while keeping the incentive of finishing a project as one of the criteria.
