Shopcast 189: Let's Chat about Westmorland with Marie Wallin, plus loads more!

By Caitlin Johnson

On this episode, Corinne is joined again by Maggie (back from being sick with a cold!). It's a week before our Colorwork Accessories KAL starts, so they share some fun ideas and details there, plus Corinne's new Flowers of Fortrose hat pattern. This pattern is free upon KAL sign-up. Also in this episode, Corinne has a lovely chat with Marie Wallin who has just released her new book Westmorland! And the beautiful Harris Tweed totes are in the shop again today so they have a look at those. Caitlin is also a guest, and Rachel sends us an update from Fair ISle, plus we have a segment from Thistle community member Krista B!

Thank you for joining us. If you are enjoying this Shopcast, please subscribe & share it with a friend! Join our email list so you’re always in the loop with our weekly Shopletter: https://thewoollythistle.com/pages/get-insider-access

  • Rachel, I so love your contributions to the Woolly Thistle Shopcasts. Like Maggie and Corinne I am ready to sign up now. I would be very happy to just have more of what you currently share. I particularly enjoy “meeting” your sheep and other animals and seeing the sky over your land. I live in a huge city in the US and my life could hardly be more different from your’s. Somehow you always make me feel more connected; I thank you for that.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, thank you. I especially appreciated seeing how well the Rauma Strikkegarn worked for Meg’s lovely cardigan and your interview with Marie Wallin.

  • Dear Rachel, following are some of my suggestions for your Patreon account:
    1. More about knitting: what are you knitting, how do you design, all about your yarn, your machine knitting, your favorite hand knitting tools
    2. History: history of Fair Isle, history of sheep on FI, history of knitting on FI
    3. Food: do you grow any of your own food, recipes and food of FI
    4. Could you produce some video tutorials of specific techniques?
    5. What books are you reading? Book Club based on everything FI and everything Scotland

  • I am not allowed to have livestock where I live. I would sponsor Rachel’s animals and it would make me feel like I had sheep, chickens and others❤ Not sure how this would work but…
