The Dunrobin Sweater designed by The Woolly Thistle owner, Corinne, is now available as an individual pattern. The Dunrobin Sweater is a loose, dropped-shoulder sweater with fitted sleeves. This thoughtful design has so many great details to make it an easy-wearing, favorite sweater:

  • Neck: 1x1 ribbing, the mock turtleneck gives you all the coverage without any of the tightness.
  • Body: more stitches on the front than the back gives you a sleeker box shape without the frumpiness.
  • Sleeves: the shaping of this sweater means your'e halfway done with the sleeves by the time you finish the body. Goodbye, Sleeve Island!
  • Hem: the split seam has a "tent top" detailing which keeps the boxy shape while also giving you more room to move!

The Dunrobin Sweater is a smart, cozy sweater that is knit in the round from the bottom up using Aran weight yarn. We recommend Istex Lettlopi or Studio Donegal Irish Heather.

The Inspiration:

Dunrobin is a memorable spot from Corinne’s childhood. She and her family used to visit here in the summer when she was a wee one. It’s also the site of her most recent trip to Scotland where, before the pandemic hit, she and her kids visited the iconic spot complete with blue skies (no small matter in the often cloudy Scotland).
