Traditional ganseys are typically knit at a tight gauge of 32 stitches/36 rows per 4" on a US1. But you can knit any sport weight project and gauge the needles accordingly, or, if you fancy knitting color work, then up your needle size and see these gorgeous colors pop. Whatever you knit, be sure to knit, wash and dry a gauge swatch first. Click the Description button below for some beautiful pattern suggestions.
Please remember every effort is taken to ensure accurate photos of the yarn but monitor settings vary.

I used gander 5 ply yarn 15 years ago to make inkle band bookmarks and it worked very well. Very strong.

My first gansey!
I received my cones of Frangipani and so far I have made my gauge swatch. It was easy to knit with and the gauge was right on! I look forward to starting my sweater. 😊

Frangipani + Gansey pattern = perfect sweaters
I love gansey designs; they're intuitive to knit, look great on most humans, are just interesting enough but still possible to watch tv while knitting (most of the time). This yarn is designed for ganseys, feels good to knit and wear, looks great, and continues to look great after years of use and even abuse. I'm especially fond of the dark purple currently on the needles. Buying big cones is cost-effective and there are almost no ends to weave in. I like to make matching hats/ fingerless gloves with the leftover yarn. This yarn is basically perfect.
