Frequently Asked Questions

A Knit-Along (KAL) is when a group of knitters work on the same or similar projects at the same time while learning from and supporting each other.

The Vest KAL cast-on day is May 27th. You can cast on that day or at any point after that date! The KAL ends on July 8th. You have until midnight ET (give or take) to complete the FO Form.

This KAL is for vests and tees. We're saying goodbye to Sleeve Island and enjoying the beautiful function of vests and tees.

You can choose any vest, tee, or slipover to knit with TWT yarn. The garment can be all one color, cables and texture, all over colorwork, open front...whatever suits your fancy.

The idea is we share the joy of knitting together on a similar project. We have many yarn sets available here link to vest and tee collection which might inspire you, and you'll find more inspiration scrolling down on this page!

Please let us know you're participating by signing up for free on this page. Once you are signed up, we will send you a couple of KAL related emails.

To share your project and see others' projects, join our Facebook and/or Ravelry group or on Instagram, use the hashtag #2026TWTVestTeeKAL so we can all find you! You can follow that hashtag as well to see others' work.

To be eligible for prizes, there is a simple FO Form to fill out when your project is complete!

To be eligible for prizes, project should mostly be made with TWT yarns (around 80% or more).

We carry so many yarns that are ideal for vests and tees! If you need any help choosing a yarn to knit your vest of choice, reach out to us at info@thewoollythistle.com. We love to play matchmaker!

Winners will be randomly selected from those participants who complete the FO (Finished Object) Form. If you complete more that one qualifying projects in the timeframe, please fill out the form for each project.

All winners will be chosen from people who have signed up with us and completed the FO Form:

Remember, your project should be finished (or at least 80% finished) before you complete the FO form and the majority of the yarn used was purchased from TWT.

You are still welcome to join us if your project doesn't fit these requirements (you bought the yarn elsewhere, your project isn't technically a vest or tee, etc).

The point is for everyone to join in, feel welcome, and knit and learn together! However, only qualified finished projects will be considered for the prizes at the end of the KAL.

The Maggie Vest is knit with Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt, a worsted-weight, 100% Norwegian wool yarn beloved for its warmth, durability, and beautiful stitch definition. Peer Gynt creates a sturdy yet comfortable fabric with that classic woolly feel we love—perfect for a vest designed to be worn again and again. Your yarn set includes all the yarn needed for your selected size and colorway, along with a TWT Tote and Woolly Thistle stitch marker for a joyful cast on.

Construction notes from the designer:  The Maggie Vest is worked from the top down. First, the back yoke is worked flat, back and forth, and shaped with increases. Stitches for the shoulders are then picked up and knitted along the top of the back yoke, and each shoulder is worked separately flat, back and forth, with increases and decreases to shape the fronts. At the underarms, the fronts and the back yoke are joined to form the body, which is worked flat, back and forth, on a circular needle. Rib edges are worked around the armhole openings. At the end, plackets are worked along the front edges and along the neck.
