The Rue Bonnie Cowl and Hat patterns are designed by the The Woolly Thistle's own, Caitlin! She originally designed the cozy Rue Bonnie Cowl to be a fun introduction to stranded colorwork knitting. Now the Rue Bonnie hat joins the kit so that you can make a lovely hat and cowl set - maximizing the use of the Making Tracks skein!
This kit is a great introduction to colorwork knitting. Knit with yarn that is woolly, yet soft: Rauma Fivel with Junction Fiber Mills Making Tracks which is a variegated yarn.
This Kit Includes:
Construction: This tubular cowl is started with a provisional cast-on, knit in the round, then given a half-twist to be a mobius shape, and finally grafted to the beginning using kitchener stitch. Each chart repeat section alternates main and contrasting colors, so each color is used equally. The colorwork calls for only two colors per row with no floats greater than five stitches.
As always, it is important to manage gauge to ensure you will have enough yarn. If you are worried you can purchase an extra skein. Please remember that every effort is taken to represent the true colors of the yarn and that monitor settings will vary.

Bretagne: Pebbles with 08 (x2) & 403
Saint Tropez: Zinnia with 04 (x2) & 12

I am just starting the second chart of Caitlin’s pretty cowl pattern and loving every minute of knitting this kit up! The yarn is soft and plumb. The pattern is very well written with links included to excellent tutorials by Caitlin. This cowl is very enjoyable to work on and I highly recommend it to both beginners and experienced knitters alike! And Caitlin mentioned on today’s shop cast that she is working on a matching hat pattern! Yay!
