The Woolly Thistle is excited to welcome the addition of Retrosaria Pegulhal! This fabulous yarn is a breed-specific yarn made of Bordaleira da Serra da Estrela and Portuguese Merino (native Portuguese sheep breeds). A great choice of yarn for knitters who like non-superwash wooly yarns, dyed in the wool and ideal for stranded knitting projects.
Pegulhal will bloom and soften considerably after being washed. Washing and blocking your swatch is suggested to determine the gauge.
Pegulhal is made from the wool of free-range sheep. Mulesing is not practiced in Portugal. Not bleached and nonsuperwash.
There are a lot of wonderful projects you could knit with Pegulhal. A couple of our current favorite patterns that recommend this yarn are the Suolaulu Sweater by Jenna K and the new Forest Keys Vest by Teti Lutsak.
