Malvina Shawl is a special design featuring paisley patterns made up of bobble stitches! Around the hem, there's a pattern of rib, cables, and garter stitches that really make the qualities of the yarn shine! This pattern calls for Armscote Manor 4ply Portland which is a 100% Portland wool in a fingering weight. This wool is spun entirely from the fleeces of Armscote Manor's single flock of conservation grazed rare sheep breed. Portland is one of the oldest known sheep breeds in English. It's a truly special yarn for a gorgeous design.
We'll tuck all of the lovely yarn needed to make this heirloom shawl into The Woolly Thistle Tote along with a stitch marker. Knitting with Armscote Manor Portland yarn is a lovely experience and honors the conservation efforts for Portland Sheep.
Yarn Set Includes:
The pattern is not included for this yarn set and can be found in The Wonder of Wool book by Justine Lee & Jess Morency. If you do not already have this book, you can purchase it here!
Finished Dimensions: ~63” x 17”
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) or those needed to meet gauge.
Gauge: 24 sts x 30 rows = 4 inches over stocking stitch
As always, it is important to manage gauge to ensure you will have enough yarn. If you are worried, you can purchase an extra skein! Please remember that every effort is taken to represent the true colors of the yarn and that monitor settings will vary.
From The Wonder of Wool: "The regalness of the creamy-white Portland makes it the perfect sheep for creating a beautiful shawl. The dense fleece produces a yarn with a delicate and fluffy handle - although, as this is a primitive breed, it's still remarkably hard-wearing. This project combines traditional aran techniques with a modern paisley design. There's a hint of caramel in the sheep's coats that can also be seen in the finished shawl."
