Jagger Spun yarn, from our neighbors in Maine, has become a favorite here at The Woolly Thistle. Jagger Spun's Woolful line is a breed specific line and we're just delighted to have the addition of this blend of two heritage UK breeds.

Woolful Black Welsh & Dorset Horn is here in all of its natural glory. The five natural shades are achieved through varying proportions of each breed, creating a beautiful gradient. This rustic, woolly yarn is a 3ply worsted weight, that is worsted spun with a gentle twist. The five shades are beautiful together for your colorwork, or each on its own. This yarn blooms wonderfully when washed or blocked and will show off all of its woolly goodness.

The Jagger family has been spinning yarn in southern Maine since the 1880’s (and before that, in England). Uriah Jagger (first generation) came from England and worked as a supervisor in the Goodall mills in Sanford. His two sons started their own mill in 1898: Jagger Brothers. In 1956, the third generation moved the business to the mill building in Springvale (part of Sanford) where we still are today. Jagger Spun was started in the 1980’s (by David Jagger, fourth generation) to sell stock service coned yarns to weavers and small manufacturers.

    Loving this yarn!

I just completed a vest with Jagger Spun Woolful in the Bear colour. I completely enjoyed knitting with this yarn! Bear is such a pretty brown and I absolutely love how beautifully it blocked as well! It is a lovely, lightweight and soft yarn. It reminds me a bit of a Lettlopi type yarn only much softer. My daughter saw my vest and now she wants one!

Jagger Spun Woolful is a personal fav!😍 Jagger Spun really hit it out of the park with this Aran weight yarn! I just finished the Sophie Shawl with the Brown Bear color. It was a fun quick knit. Considering making another with the Dorest Horn off white color. ❤️
