Fair Isle Knitting: 22 Traditional Patterns from Where the Atlantic Meets the North Sea is a wonderful book by Carina Olsson. Carina is one of Sweden's leading experts in Fair Isle knitting and the perfect guide for this centuries-old art that we know and love. This new book is a wonderful resource and inspiration for all of us wool lovers. She begins by taking us on a journey to the Shetland Islands through stunning photos and storied writing. Carina also delves into one of the fundamental principles of Fair Isle Knitting: how to choose and combine colors in vivid, organic palettes.
Also in the book:
If you have a Jamieson & Smith 2ply stash or are ready to dive into one, this book is perfect for you. Many of the patterns in Fair Isle Knitting call for this favorite yarn of many Thistlers!
I wouldn’t really call this a review but I noticed that the ladies sweater pattern only went up to a 48 3/4” chest measurement. Just thought I’d bring this to the attention of those that are larger than this. It would be a bummer to order the book and the sweaters wouldn’t fit.
Thank you for leaving a review, K. We appreciate your feedback and we will pass this along to the designer as well. While some of the books that we carry can be previewed on Ravelry, some smaller publications like this one may not be available to preview before making a purchase. We will keep this in mind going forward and work on including these types of details in the descriptions on our website. Thanks again for your feedback and support of The Woolly Thistle!
