Peace Fleece works to support pastoral communities that have been historically in conflict with the US. Currently Peace Fleece is working with the Navajo to offer fair market prices for the Rambouillet sheep wool raised by families in the Navajo Nation. Peace Fleece's yarn is made of this wool blended with a domestic fine wool and mohair for strength.
We are excited to welcome Peace Fleece yarn back to The Woolly Thistle. This 2ply Heavy Worsted to Aran weight yarn was a fast hit among Thistlers and then, due to production difficulties, we were unable to stock it for quite some time. But, it is back and just as beautiful as ever!
If you need some inspiration for this beautiful yarn, we would recommend these designs:
I was surprised when I started knitting the PEACE FLEECE yarn for the 2026 Shawl KAL. I had not expected the matter in the yarn. I had planned to design a wrap that I named the Ripple Wrap. Peace Fleece is being used for the wings using the Feather and Fan stitch. It's fluff.
Patience Blue makes a gorgeous project. The back of the wrap is James C. Brett using the Celtic Knitted Saxon Braid stitch to give the project more structure.
Love the matter and smell. The matter is liking getting a little surprise each passing.

LOVE THIS YARN!!!!!
I love Peace Fleece, it is squishy and soft with great stitch definition. I just finished a Simple Pie vest in Bluebird and it turned out great. I also love that this company supports Navajo sheep farmers, paying them a fair price for their wool. That is VERY important to me.
P.S. The color selection in Peace Fleece is amazing.

Peace Fleece Porterfield Plum
I am completely satisfied with my Peace Fleece Porterfield Plum yarn. It's exactly what I'd hoped for, heavy weight, deep burgundy/plum color with pink and blue flecks and variation. If you want a soft yarn, however, you might not want this. I'm making myself a short, boxy sleeveless cardigan in a moss/seed stitch. It works up fast, is well-worsted and has the 'bounce' that described the wool on the web site. I highly recommend this wool, and I very much appreciate supporting the Navajo (Dine) who produce it. I'm very glad to have found your outlet. With many thanks, Michele Reed
