The Heathers Fingering Weight line from Jagger Spun is top-dyed worsted spun yarn. This 100% European wool is top-dyed in the UK then milled and blended in Maine. The heather effect is created by blending together many different shades to achieve each unique yarn color. These yarns will loft and become even softer after washing.

The Jagger family has been spinning yarn in southern Maine since the 1880’s (and before that, in England). Uriah Jagger (first generation) came from England and worked as a supervisor in the Goodall mills in Sanford. His two sons started their own mill in 1898: Jagger Brothers. In 1956, the third generation moved the business to the mill building in Springvale (part of Sanford) where we still are today. Jagger Spun was started in the 1980’s (by David Jagger, fourth generation) to sell stock service coned yarns to weavers and small manufacturers. The Heathers were one of the first yarns in the Jagger Spun line.
Project Suggestions: This yarn is squishy and light-weight. Perfect for shawls, cowls, sweaters, hats, mittens and more.
I used this yarn for a shawl and enjoyed every minute. The color was lovely and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the other colors in person. There are some wonderful cool colors I'd love to use.

Versatile and timeless colors
Have used this yarn (as well as the sport weight) of this yarn and both weights produce a fabric with excellent drape with a color palette that is great for both color work and lace projects. I found the fingering weight is a bit thinner than more traditional fair isle yarns sold and will work well with them.
