The Thistle on the Moor Shawl by Carolyn Holbrook is a graceful triangular wrap inspired by wild Scottish landscapes and native blooms. Beginning with a garter tab and growing through sections of floral lace, including delicate thistles and woodland flowers, the design balances engaging stitch patterns with restful garter rows, making it a rewarding and rhythmic knit.
Thistle on the Moor is knit with John Arbon Yarnadelic yarn which is a sport weight yarn that is 100% wool from Falklands Corriedale sheep. Your finished shawl will be soft, smooth, and lightweight for any occasion!

Construction notes from designer: A triangular-shaped shawl that starts with a unique garter stitch tab and increases within the Scottish-inspired design elements. We begin our knitting adventure with a field of flowers and the precious eight-petal flower, the Wood Anemone. Next in our trek is the beautiful, iconic thistle that grows in abundance along the roadsides, hiking trails, and moors. As we continue on our journey, you will create more lovely posies. Between the various patterns are garter stitch rows that provide you time to rest and ponder about your own visit to view the beautiful blossoms. At the end of the shawl is a delightful simple picot bind-off.
