The Keris Vest is a pretty Fairisle sleeveless sweater, knit with Marie Wallin's British Breeds yarn. Keris is such a lovely design from Marie Wallin's book, Cumbria. The motifs on Keris are inspired by carpet and ornamental folk designs of Eastern Europe and the Middle East.  

Construction:  This sleeveless sweater is knit flat due to the differing repeating pattern sections.  It can be knitted in the round with the introduction of steek stitches where the side seams and armholes would be.

  • All the British Breeds yarn called for in the pattern for the size you select (20-36x 25g balls)

Selecting the correct amount of ease is very personal. Please choose a size based on your own preferences. As always, it is important to manage gauge to ensure you will have enough yarn.  If you are worried you can purchase an extra skein of the main color!

Pattern and yarn are both lovely! But, beware of too much yarn in kit!

Why the reason for low stars? Because after it was all done, the "kit" was sold to me with an entirely untouched, unused 9 skeins of yarn. That's not trivial. I even lengthened my vest by a few inches. I did not deviate from suggested colors in the least. Here are the extra skeins:

1 extra, totally unused skein of Dark Apple
3 extra, totally unused skeins of Blossom
1 extra, totally unused skein of Quince
1 extra, totally unused skein of Walnut
1 extra, totally unused skein of Thistle
1 extra, totally unused skein of Mallard
1 extra, totally unused skein of Silver Birch

Love the yarn. Love the finished product. TWT staff were great in helping to separate a pdf pattern that was the original sent by the designer, but very oddly formatted (thereby preventing ability to print). But, TWT definitely came to the rescue on that.

But, really, save yourself almost $100 if you are buying size 2 and just buy the yarn separately. Yarn budgets are important, and trust is important, and both were kind of blown on this purchase of the "kit."
