Malin by Natasja Hornby is an elegant and versatile cardigan design. A comfortable shape and cozy shawl collar makes this a cardigan you will reach for often. The body's allover colorwork is achieved by the slip-stitch technique using one color per row. We've put together several color options for this yarn set and we think this design is a great option for a men's cardigan as well!
This Yarn Set Includes:
Please note the yarn set does NOT include the pattern, which you can download direct from Ravelry: Malin by Natasja Hornby Pattern
Construction:
Malin is worked seamlessly from the top down. First, the shoulder saddles are worked in garter stitch. Then, stitches are picked up from the saddles to work the back and front yoke until the underarms. The shoulder seam is shifted forward to optimize the fit, so the upper front yoke will be shorter than the upper back yoke.
Then, fronts and back are joined to work the body down to the garter ridges. The garter ridges and stranded colorwork are worked in the round, after picking up sts from the edges. Then, the body hem ribbing is worked flat, after which the button bands and collar are worked. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up around the armhole. The sleeve caps are shaped using German short rows, after which the sleeves are worked in the round.

As always, it is important to manage gauge to ensure you will have enough yarn. If you are worried you can purchase an extra skein! Please remember that every effort is taken to represent the true colors of the yarn and that monitor settings will vary.
I’m so happy with the kits that the Woolly Thistle curated. They bring to my attention some of the best knitwear designers and high quality yarns in their kits and also if buying for independent projects. I love the stories behind the yarns and descriptions of the kinds of fiber sources they come from. I love knitting and look forward to casting on this and other projects I’ve purchased from the Woolly Thistle. I hope to visit the store in person one day. I’m so glad that this store serves some of the best woolen yarns from around the world, making them accessible and known to American knitters. I love the little extra gifts such as stitch markers and project bags that come with purchases. I recently discovered the Woolly Thistle and it’s now my favorite knitting haven.
I love the boxy style. The stranded pattern is easy to do and does not need steeking. However, I wish I had chosen a softer yarn such as Rauma Vams. Lettlopi is somewhat irritating to my skin.
Our knitting kits are specially curated with all the yarn and inspiration you'll need to complete your project
