Step back in time to the Victorian era with Victorian Housecats to Knit by Sara Elizabeth Kellner. This book is a charming collection of 20 whimsical cat patterns inspired by the feline-loving Morgans, a proper upper-class British family. From Aunt Pru's regal Persian, to the mischievous Scullery Cat, this book offers a delightful mix of beginner-friendly and advanced designs, each accompanied by vintage 19th-century illustrations that perfectly capture the era’s elegance.
Experienced toy knitters will be rewarded with the cutest and quite realistic cat finished object. You're carried through the pages with a personal tour of the Morgan home and you'll find yourself knitting your own cozy, cat-filled world in no time.
Construction Information about the designs: Most of the patterns in this book use a mixture of knitting flat and knitting in the round. Yarn and needle sizes are given for the pattern, ranging from Worsted to Bulky weight on US3 - US5. It is recommended that you make sure that the fabric you create is tighter than it would be for a garment, so the stuffing won’t show through the stitches in the end. Creating a tighter fabric will also help maintain the shape of your creation.
Note this book is a lovely whimsical addition to your library that we recommend to all knitting and cat enthusiasts. Some of the instructions are quite pithy, so experience and confidence in your knitting abilities are recommended.
About the Designer: Sara Elizabeth Kellner is the designer of Rabbit Hole Knits - toy and animal patterns for hand-knitters. Her goal when designing is to create patterns which portray the animals realistically, yet still evoking the personality of each, a twinkle in each of their eyes, and the question “Did I just see that animal move?” on the lips of every knitter.

This is a charming book that is really a delight to read. I’m looking forward to knitting a cat for my mother’s 100th birthday This summer, as she had to give away her own kitty when she moved into a retirement home. I’m sure she’ll love a knitted one. Having not started on the knitting yet I cannot comment on the instructions.
