Felicity Ford is a gem in our knitting community.  A sound expert, her podcasts transport the listener to wherever she is recording, whether on a Scottish island cutting peat, or in her home listening to silk worms chomp through greens (this didn't appeal to me but of course I listened to the episode and found it enchanting and actually very moving).

For more information about Felicity you can find her here.  I bought her book during it's Kickstarter campaign.  The book took the knitting community by storm (as it should) and I am truly honored and proud to stock it here at The Woolly Thistle.  For new and experienced color work knitters alike, this book will offer you a path to interpreting your own color work inspirations.  Felicity works with J&S 2ply jumper weight Shetland wool yarn which you can also find here at The Woolly Thistle.

About the book:

"Design your own stranded color work with the KNITSONIK system.  Artist and designer Felicity Ford shows you how to translate ordinary subjects into extraordinary stranded color work with her playful and inventive KNITSONIK system.  Whether recording everyday sounds or knitting garments, Felicity Ford is happiest when her creative energies are focused on exploring and celebrating the details of everyday life.  She likes listening to the origins of things, and knitting objects with stories and soundtracks.  In this book she shares her techniques for celebrating life in stranded color work, providing clear instructions so that you can do the same.

Discover how to find inspiration in daily life, pick yarn shades based on your favorite things and recreate the richness of the world around you through clever shading.

Containing twelve case studies and two accessory patterns, the KNITSONIK Stranded Colorwork Sourcebook offers a wealth of tips, tricks an inspiration for you to take your stranded color work knitting to the next level.  Beautifully photographed and clearly illustrated throughout, this book reveals how everything from factories to fruitcake can be used to inspire knitting projects based on the things you love."

Wonderful book

I am so happy with this book purchase! I have read many books on knitting stranded colorwork, but this is the first one I have found that really offers detailed, helpful instructions on how to pick out colors for successful colorwork combinations. The writing makes me feel like I am taking an in-person class from Felix.

interesting!

Skimmed thru the book and think is a very interesting system to design colorwork patterns. I have not actually put it to the test yet but will try it when I get better at knitting colorwork.
