I'm knitting a colorwork sweater with a cone of dark navy, and I love it. Initially, it does feel a bit stringy and thin as a result of the spinning oil. Because of the dark (near to black) color of the yarn, I wound off some skeins of the yarn and washed in hot water to remove the spinning oil. Washing released quite a bit of the dye as well, but not in enough concentration to dye the light colors also being used in the sweater. When dried, the bloom of the yarn is remarkable.
Next time, I would not bother to wind off and wash as now I know what happens.
Having a cone of each of the basic colors in my wool pantry gives me so many options. Thanks, Woolly Thistle!
