With almost 8 years of growing The Woolly Thistle business and community, we have learned a lot about wool and yarns from the UK, Europe, and beyond. From Scotland to Spain, Canada to the US, our love of woolly wool knows no bounds.
Every Spring we put that expertise to good use and curate a taster collection of some of our favorite and most special yarns and goodies, sharing the stories of these beloved yarns and their producers.

A note about colors: We feel it is important to show you what you are buying and so we have listed out the items that will be in each box for you to see for yourself (rather than making a Mystery Box). WoolDreamers Breeds Mallorcan Red (x1)
WoolDreamers operates in Castilla La-Mancha, Spain where founder, Ramón, utilized his expertise and passion to revive the use of Spanish Wool. At one time, Spanish Wool was an unused byproduct of the Spanish sheep farms. WoolDreamers has created a profitable and eco-friendly product for the local sheep farmers, while bringing us this beautiful Spanish Wool!
WoolDreamers's Breeds is made from a blend of Mallorcan Red and Spanish Merino wool. It is a DK weight yarn with a unique texture that makes it both soft and sturdy, perfect for garments and accessories. The Mallorcan Red is a breed with its origins in North Africa, and now classified as a native endangered breed. This very special skein, in its natural shade, is available only in the 2024 Spring Taster Box.

Sourcing wool from hardy breeds like Cheviot, Zwartbles, and Hebridean, that thrive on the island, Uist Wool produces beautiful and woolly yarn.
Uist Wool DK weight yarn showcases the beauty of the natural shades of these hardy breeds. This strong and crips yarn is great for long-lasting garments accessories!

Lichen & Lace Rustic Heather yarn is a minimally processed, sport weight yarn made with Canadian wool. It is spun in New Brunswick at Canada's oldest woolen mill and the gorgeous colors are hand dyed with care. Your Spring Taster Box will include two skeins of complementing colors.

Rauma has been producing wool yarn in Norway since 1927. This family mill is known for producing wool yarn that is great for colorwork and heirloom quality projects. This tried and true Norwegian wool is always a favorite among Thistlers!
Rauma Fivel is a worsted weight and lightly spun yarn which produces a fabric that is soft and airy. A yarn that is great for braids and structures, Fivel is also Rauma's softest wool yarn! Your Spring Taster Box will include two of the same beautiful color which is perfect for a variety of accessory knitting!
