We are delighted to have John Arbon's Exmoor Sock here at The Woolly Thistle. John Arbon's Exmoor Sock yarn enhances the durable character and bounce of the fiber from their local Exmoor Blueface sheep – a cross breed of the Exmoor Horn (full bodied and hard-wearing) and the Bluefaced Leicester (renowned for its softness and luster). They’ve added naturally dark browny-black Devon Zwartbles giving extra bounce and a subtle fleck of color, plus Falklands Corriedale to enhance softness and stitch definition and a hint of nylon for durability.
Exmoor Sock yarn not only celebrates Exmoor, but is designed to be perfect for socks, whilst still having the versatility to suit garments and accessories that relish a hard wearing, machine washable yarn. If you fancy stripes or colorwork, Exmoor Sock is available in handy 50g skeins.
Love this yarn! Thank you Woolly Thistle for excellent prompt delivery. “Fuzzpig” color is similar to the greenish-brown that is seen on some avocadoes. Very unusual and beautiful. Half way done with the first sock.

Unique yarn
I ordered four skeins of John Arbon Exmoor Sock yarn, and they arrived promptly and more than met my expectations. The colors were rich and the fiber is strong and so pleasant to knit with… it seems to me that this type of non-Merino sock yarn is not produced much in the U.S., so it’s wonderful that the Woolly Thistle makes these UK yarns available to us over here. I’m happily knitting away on a pair of socks right now, and I definitelyinitely will be ordering again!
