The Grey Sheep Hampshire 4ply yarn is a lofty yarn with good stitch definition and a the kind of story we love here at The Woolly Thistle. We are so delighted with Emma of Well Manor Farm and the caring and ethical farm that she maintains to create an extraordinary yarn.
This beautiful yarn begins at Well Manor Farm, which is Emma's small family farm on the Surrey Hampshire border. The wool is sheered and hand sorted on the farm by Emma and Susie, and then it goes on a quick trip to be washed and woolen spun in Yorkshire. The yarn then goes back to the farm to be lovingly hand dyed by Emma, with color inspiration from the beautiful countryside of her home. The quality and care in each step along the way is evident in this yarn.
Hampshire 4ply is a woolen blend of fine wool along with some of the neighboring farm's finest fibers. It is just right for knitting sweaters, hats, shawls, and other accessories including color work projects. Imagine a snuggly cardigan! Once blocked, the fabric blooms and has a silky quality that only improves with wear.

Color as shown. Wonderful feel to the yarn. Looking forward to working my project with it.
I was looking for undyed color, fingering weight, so chose the Oatmeal.
Alas, the color is much more on the "yellow" spectrum than the "cream, brown" spectrum that my monitor shows. It is not a color I can wear and it washes out the yarn that I was hoping to combine it with for Selbu mittens..
If you want undyed and are of fair complexion, maybe try the "Naturally" undyed . Perhaps that is not so yellow.
The yarn itself is rustic and lovely. Thank you Woolly Thistle.
