The Woolly Thistle
Rambler Yarn
Rambler Yarn is named for the hill-walkers all over Britain who "ramble" across the countryside. We love sharing what is so special about our very own 100% wool Rambler Yarn. And now, three new colors join the beautiful palette!
The Characteristics of Rambler Yarn
Our yarn is fantastic for sock knitting and other accessories and garments. We started with selecting the breeds that support a hardy sock yarn as well as softening after blocking. We work closely with the mill and we have our yarn custom dyed before hanking up into lovely skeins for you. We've designed Rambler for knitters who love 100% woolly wool.
100% Wool
Inspired by our love for British breeds, we chose Dorset wool as the base for our yarn. A medium wool with a down-like feel and squish, Dorset wool is springy and bouncy, slightly rustic and wonderfully woolly without being coarse or prickly. Corriedale and Romney give additional softness and strength and a bit of depth as the Romney is a natural gray.
Gorgeous colors
With the latest addition of 3 spectacularly pretty colors, Rambler is now available in 13 shades all inspired by New Hampshire's botanical and natural world. Each color is gorgeous on its own or in combination with any other shade from the range.

How Rambler got its Name
Rambler gets its name from those hardy hill-walkers all over Britain who "ramble" around the countryside either on their own or with other like-minded walkers. We enjoy imagining all ramblers wearing knits in our yarn as they hike paths and traverse stiles while always closing the gate behind them!
Battenkill Fibers
Rambler Yarn is inspired by our love for British breeds and the wool is sourced from American wools within the Southern Adirondack Fiber Producers Cooperative. Rambler is spun by our friends at Battenkill Fibers in New York State.
