Texel or Texelaar sheep are native to Texel Island located in the North Sea just north of Amsterdam. It is the largest of the Dutch island in the chain called the Frisian Islands (or the Wadden Islands).
Texel welcomes visitors who come to visit the charming red-roofed villages and the white sandy beaches which are peppered with colorful beach huts to stay in. And there's a lighthouse! To see more photos of Texel I encourage you to check out this website.
Ovis et Cetera has hand dyed her stock of Texelaar that was grown in the Netherlands and spun in Germany. The Woolly Thistle is delighted to offer three color work sets (comprising of 3 x 50g skeins), each bundle has a hand-dyed skein, a natural grey skein and marled skein. Texel yarn is rustic and full of character. These sets can be used for making color work socks (check out Eli's Selbu Sock design), color work mittens or hats!
